MaxMSP Courses

Our MaxMSP courses here comprises of 2 level of technical and creativity. The first is Certificate in Basic MaxMSP course and the other is Certificate in Advanced level MaxMSP course. The duration for each course lasts 3 months of 2 lessons of 3 hours per week. In these courses, students will learn technical and artistic implementation using MaxMSP. With weekly “freestyle” assignment, students will have plenty of chances for applying creativities, then those creativities will be guided to the next level of technical implementation in the class, and also, current creativity space will be discussed in the class to expand the student’s ability to either follow through or tweak it further. By the end of each course, passing students will have their personal “final project” as their own masterpiece.

What is MaxMSP?

Max is a visual programming language for music and multimedia developed and maintained by San Francisco-based Software Company Cycling '74. During its 20-year history, it has been widely used by composers, performers, software designers, researchers, and artists for creating innovative recordings, performances, and installations.

MSP is the expansion of Max for generating and processing digital audio signal.

Jitter is the graphical expansion of Max, enabling the users to low-level processing of graphics and videos.

Max is like a simple sheet of paper, where you can sketch your idea and make it work right away. It does not require high coding skill or any solid engineering background to use it. Just good ideas and strong personal interests will take you through the course.
